Offshore Structural Engineer at Saipem Contracting Nigeria Limited

Job Title: Offshore Structural Engineer (OFFSRTC)

Responsibilities

• Design, execute or check the typical Structural studies including:
  • 3D modeling with Tekla (or equivalent)
  • 3D model reviews with other disciplines
  • Design drawings for primary, secondary and tertiary structures
  • Bill of materials or material take off
• Extraction of bill of materials and other weight information from the 3D CAD model.
• Write the execution and quality control procedure for the 3D modeling and fabrication drawings in accordance with the project specifications.
• Organize the work of his team and follow-up the planning of the resources mobilization.
• Co-ordinate the work of his team with the structural engineers of the project.
• Check the input data and all the documents and information issued by his team.
• Keep all the stakeholders of the project informed of the modifications resulting from the work of his team.
• Supervise the update of the documents after comments issued by other disciplines (inter-discipline checks> or external stakeholders (Client, Yards, Third party review, etc.)
• Feed the Offshore Structural Department improvement system by reverting with lessons learned during the project.
• Coordinate project team of Structural Draftsmen in order to carry out the structural 3D CAD model and the extraction of the structural design drawings in accordance with technical, budget and schedule targets.
• Ensure that the 3D CAD model is built up properly accounting for needs of all project functions availing of it as working tools (e.g. piping and layout engineering, weight control, material management, fabrication engineering)

Required Professional Skills

• Knowledge of tools related to 2D and 3D modeling activities.
• Ability to plan assigned project team activities defining technical roles and tasks in order to handle Project scope of work.
• Ability to estimate the needed number of resources and their skills in order to meet project milestones and targets.
• Plan engineering activities and documentation deliverables in order to meet Project schedule milestones considering design workflows and engineering interfaces with all other Project Disciplines and functions.

Qualification and Experience

• Good working knowledge and proficient in AutoCAD or equivalent software as well as detailed Knowledge of tools related to 2D and 3D modeling activities.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Marine and Offshore Structure drafting (Structural & Pipelines) in Offshore Oil & Gas/Marine industry.
• A Bachelors degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite.
