Job Title: Risers and Mooring Engineer (RISMENG)
Responsibilities
Review Client technical documentation and requirements.
Control subcontracted discipline engineering documents.
Review the Client technical documents during the bid phase.
Prepare the design basis/CTR x riser design and interface with the relative process and structures.
Prepare the technical specifications and data sheets for material purchasing and ancillary structures.
Prepare evaluation notes relevant to technical proposals received by suppliers.
Prepare evaluation reports relevant to tests performed by suppliers both during qualification or construction phases.
Assist the riser engineering leader or the project engineering manager for solving technical problems arising during project development and for interfacing/supporting the Saipem procurement department.
Ensure the implementation of the project design changes.
Provide information to the riser engineering leader on work progress for preparation of the project control reports.
Optimize the layout configuration of the riser system.
Assist with the selection of laying, installation of ancillary structures and spread/methods.
Perform/verify all discipline analyses and calculation notes required to design the riser system.
Verify and act upon the remarks of the Client/Certifying Body.
Check the engineering activities of third parties/subcontractors.
Define standards and procedures for the relative engineering area and contribute to software evaluations.
Participate at the suppliers’ qualification process.
Cooperate with the umbilical engineering leader to support the procurement and fabrication activities.
Required Professional Skills
Knowledge of tools related to 2D and 3D modelling activities.
Knowledge of engineering design criteria for foundations, concrete structures and works, steel structures (piperacks, equipment support structures, services platforms, shelters etc.)
Ability to identify proper technical solutions against construction criticalities.
• Knowledge of Discipline engineering design criteria, methods and workflows from conceptual phase up to site engineering phase.
Knowledge of main international Discipline standards, codes and regulations.
Knowledge of Expansion/stress analysis.
Understanding of the main features of the materials to be treated.
Knowledge of wall thickness design formula according to different products to be transported, design factors, material grade and type.
Ability to analyse the behavior (response and strength) of the pipeline during the various steps of the installation sequence.
Ability to check the pipeline strength subject to static and dynamic loads including both the effects of the vessel movements due to waves, currents and wind and direct wave and current loads on the pipeline.
Ability to establish the optimum setting of the lay barge configuration (S-lay ramp, j-lay tower setting).
Ability to establish Limit Sea states conditions for safe operations.
Ability to define the Project general rules and guidelines for Discipline quantities estimation either on Bid Projects either on Projects in execution according to corporate design standards, procedures, methods and tools.
Ability to control and ensure the correct application of the general rules and guidelines by all team members and all subcontractors involved in quantity definition activities.
Ability to develop all the tasks of the Subsea Pipeline Engineering including: route selection, pipe wall thickness sizing, on bottom stability and concrete coating design, on bottom roughness and free-span assessment, expansion and buckling analysis, trawl gear interaction analysis, crossing of existing pipelines and cables, expansion loop and tie-in spool design, shore approach design, design of seabed intervention works for stress and free-span fatigue mitigation, stabilization, protection, design of pipeline components.
Ability to perform vortex induced vibration analysis on pipeline free-spans or risers. Evaluate the pipeline / riser response to vortex induced vibration due to the action of currents and waves; verify the capability of the pipeline / riser to withstand the loads, design mitigation measures.
Qualification and Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience undertaking the detailed design of pipelines and risers and umbilical systems.
Minimum of first Degree or equivalent in relevant Engineering discipline.
Knowledge of at least one of the following software: Abaqus, Orca flex, Flexcon-3DANSYS
