We are recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: Transmission Line Lead Engineer

Ref: LM - 13308
Location: Any City, NG

• Transmission Line Lead Engineer stewards all phases of HV transmission line engineering.
• Ensures that the Project's requirements, as detailed in the Technical Specifications, for all engineering are carried out faithfully, and in a timely fashion.
• Stewards HV transmission line engineering aspects of the Project with other discipline leads on the PMT, as necessary.
• Stewards the interfaces between the PMT and the EPC contractor's organization with respect to transmission line engineering to ensure quality and minimize change orders.
• Interfaces with and gets technical guidance from TCN / DES / EMDC the EMDC Engineering Functional Support organization, as needed.
  

Responsibilities

• Provide overall HV transmission line engineering technical leadership and expertise
• Steward the EPC contractor's activities with respect to HV transmission line engineering including:
• Detail HV transmission line engineering towers, foundations, ancillaries, sag calculations, crossings, conductor selection, etc
• Development of all required drawings, details, installation procedures, construction plans, etc.
• Development of the schedule, recommended deliverables, and labor hour estimate for transmission line engineering
• Measurement and reporting of physical progress
• Selection, specification, and inspection of transmission line components
• Procurement of HV transmission line items including preparation of specifications, bid evaluations, bid tabulations, bid recommendations, etc.
• Review, evaluate, and advise:
• Transmission line optimization, and feasibility studies
• Transmission line specifications, plans, drawings, schedules
• Compliance with design methods and safety factors to be used in design of project. Reviews completed design for correctness, compliance, and operability, and maintainability
• Transmission line tower testing, electrical tests, energization. Reviews or sets design basis for abnormal operating conditions
• Pre-commissioning, commissioning, and testing and energization planning activities
• Participate in Hazardous Operations (HAZOP) reviews as applicable.

Qualifications and skills

• Thorough and extensive knowledge of:
• Transmission line engineering principles, theories, practices, and concepts
• Applicable codes, standards, and trade practices
• Thorough knowledge and expert judgment in the selection and application of transmission line tower design and electrical software applications
• Strong background, including HV transmission line operations.
• Broad understanding of Safety aspects in design, applicable codes and regulations
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical or Civil Engineering)
• Strong communication, coordination, technical and problem solving skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs
• Read, write and speak fluent English.
