Job Title: General Manager

Location: Lagos

Job Description

We are looking for a reliable General Manager for our Construction Firm to plan construction projects and oversee their progress along the way in a timely and cost-effective manner.
He will be responsible for budgeting, organization, implementation and scheduling of the projects.

Responsibilities

Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion
Review the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs
Oversee all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations
Recruit, Coordinate and direct construction vendors, workers and subcontractors
Selecting appropriate construction methods for the job and budget
Involved in multi rise buildings and edifice
Select tools, materials and equipment and track inventory
Meet contractual conditions of performance
Review the work progress on daily basis
Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status
Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones
Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licences
Analyse, manage and mitigate risks
Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques

Requirements

Bachelors and Masters degrees in Civil engineering, Building Technology, Architecture, Construction management or Quantity Surveying
Proven 10 -12 years working experience in construction and 5 of it in Construction Management
Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods
Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
Expatriates are invited to apply
An analytical mind, attention to detail and ability to make impromptu decisions based on objective criteria are skills
Understanding of all facets of the construction process
Familiarity with construction management software packages
Ability to use relevant Engineering design software(s) to generate Civil/Structural drawings and calculations.
Current knowledge of industry practice and techniques; especially conditions of contract and documentations as it relates with pre and post contract processes.
Membership of relevant professional bodies an advantage
High level of analytical, financial, communication and negotiation skills necessary with proficiency in MS Project, excel and CAD system
Ability to plan and see the “big picture”
Competent in conflict and crisis management
Leadership and human resources management skills
Excellent time and project management skills
