We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Nutrition and Health Officer

Location: Monguno, Borno
Job Type: Full Time

Job Summary

This position is based in Monguno, Borno State and directly supervised by the Sector Manager.
The Nutrition and Health Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation of Nutrition and Health activities to achieve the specific objective of the EU project which is to improve nutrition security of conflict affected populations through uptake of critical household health and hygiene behaviors with the aim of providing primary health care, water, livelihoods sources, sanitation and hygiene services.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Monitor and map the nutrition and health sector activities.
Conduct periodic capacity assessment of health workers on CMAM services delivery, IMCI service delivery, reproductive health service delivery, vaccination etc. and review the training needs and/or coaching needs.
Monitor and supervise facility based nutrition and health service delivery ensuring services are provided with recommended national technical standards.
Review financial, logistical and HR needs on monthly/quarterly basis.
Systematic capacity building of State Ministry of Health staff on health service delivery (IMCI, Ante Natal & Post Natal Care, Delivery services) including CMAM and Stabilization Care management.
Participate with M&E team in supervision of data collection for Nutrition KAP surveys, baseline and end line surveys.
Liaise with community mobilization team to ensure improved coordination and collaboration between team members.
Conduct regular follow up with the teams on the progress of activity, challenges and guide on necessary actions.
Provide summary analysis and report on nutrition and health facilities such as contextual changes, challenges and proposed solutions.

Position Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Medicine or Public Health. Certificate in project management for development professionals will be an added advantage.
Minimum of one year’ experience in primary health care program including CMAM program implementation.
Excellent report-writing skills is required including MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
Fluent in written and spoken English and Hausa.
Good communication and Interpersonal skills.
Team management experience with similar programs.
Ability to observe and to provide feedback on the activities.
Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions.
Commitment to and understanding of Action Against Hunger aims, values and principles.
