Vice-Chancellor at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH)

The Governing Council of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, hereby announces the commencement of the process of appointing the next Vice-Chancellor of the University, in accordance with the provisions of the Edict establishing the University. The position will become vacant by February 14,2019. Interested candidates are requested to please note the following information about the University.

LAUTECH, a University of Technology, is a State-owned University (the Owner States being Oyo and Osun). Founded on 23rd April, 1990, the University is operating on two campuses; the main campus is situated in Ogbomoso, Oyo State while the second campus is in Osogbo, State of Osun. The following Faculties are in the main campus: Faculties of Agricultural Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Environmental Sciences, Management Sciences and Pure and Applied Sciences. The Osogbo campus houses the College of Health Sciences which comprises Faculty of Clinical Sciences and part of Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. The University also has a Postgraduate School.

Student population currently stands at 26,497 undergraduate students as well as 2,000 full-time and part-time students. The University also has about 2,000 Open and Distance Learning students. The staff list for both Academic and Non-Teaching staff stands at 2,534. The University is currently non-residential for both staff and students. In the short period of less than three decades of its existence, LAUTECH has been able to make its mark on the educational development of the country through its tenacious commitment to its vision and mission statements which drive its academic, physical and infrastructural development.

The University Governing Council hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position below:

The Candidates

• The candidate for the post of Vice-Chancellor is required to possess a good University education and should be a proven manager of human and material resources.

Specifically, the candidate shall be expected to:

• Be a highly distinguished academic of the rank of Professor for at least ten (10) years with proven ability to provide academic leadership for such a growing institution;
• Be a successful scholar who is well-rooted in the finest academic tradition;
• Possess high reputation nationally and internationally and be able to command the respect of the national and international academic communities through his/her track records;
• Provide administrative leadership to a group of well-informed and articulate academic community;
• Possess the ability to create the much needed bridges between staff and students on one hand and between members of the University community and the host community on the other;
• Be a person with a clear vision for the development of a first class University even
• Be someone who appreciates and acts on merit and who will not give in to undue pressure; and.
• Will not be above sixty-five (65) years by the time of application and assumption of office.

Conditions Of Service
The salary and conditions of service shall be similar to those attached to the post of Vice- Chancellor of a Federal Government-owned University in Nigeria.

• Each application, which should be duly signed and dated, is to be accompanied by thirty-five (35) copies of the Candidate’s Curriculum Vitae; the Curriculum Vitae should contain the candidate’s Name in full, Age, Marital status, Number of children with names and ages, State of origin, Nationality, Current contact address, GSM number and e-mail address, Institutions attended with dates, Educational qualifications with dates, professional, academic and other achievements, the candidate's own idea and vision for a twenty - first century University and names and addresses of three referees who must be requested by the applicant to forward confidential report on them directly to the Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of the Governing Council, current employment with employer's address (postal, e-mail and contact G.S.M number), among other things.
• In the case of each candidate identified by the University Search Team, the application shall be in line with the above requirements and be accompanied by a letter of consent duly signed by the candidate;
• All shortlisted candidates, whether direct applicants or those identified by the Search Team constituted by the Governing Council for the purpose, will be required to make themselves available for interview at short notice with the Joint Committee of Council and Senate, and
• Each referee must forward a confidential report on the candidate’s character, academic and administrative or managerial competences.
