Equal Access International (EAI) is an international not for profit organization, headquartered in San Francisco and working throughout Asia, Africa and the Middle East. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Deputy Chief of Party

Location:
Kano

Summary
  • EAI is preparing for the USAID/Nigeria Community Initiatives to Promote Peace (CIPP), a five year, $15 million conflict management and mitigation activity that will strengthen inter-faith, inter-ethnic, and other local conflict mitigation networks to support and promote peaceful coexistence, good governance and religious freedoms in targeted communities in six focus states of Northern Nigeria, including building the capacity of state and local governments to assist communities in mitigating violent conflict and preventing violent extremism.
  • CIPP will coordinate with USAID/Nigeria’s relevant health, basic education, and economic growth activities.
  • This project is anticipated to be awarded by February 2019.
Position
  • The Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) will support the COP in the management and general technical direction of the activity, ensuring an integrated approach to achieving project results. S/he acts as the COP and serves as the principle point of contact in Nigeria for procedural and substantive matters in the absence of the COP. The DCOP will be responsible for all day-to-day technical activities and implementation of the activity.
Reporting & Supervision:
  • The Deputy Chief of Party will report to the Chief of Party.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field such as Social Sciences, Law, Development Studies, etc. or five years of relevant international development experience in lieu of a Master’s degree.
  • At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the successful implementation of international development activities, with preference given to conflict mitigation and/or violent extremism prevention programs – at least three (3) years of which must be in senior program management, including direct supervision of professional and support staff.
  • Prior experience in awarding and managing sub-grants to local organizations to promote conflict mitigation, violent extremism prevention, and/or democracy and governance goals.
  • Experience working in the conflict mitigation/preventing violent extremism sector in Africa.
