Description

• The Governing Council of Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, hereby announces that the position of Bursar of the University will be vacant by 1 January, 2019
• In accordance with the provisions of the Yusuf Maitama Sule University Law 2017 (as amended) and in executing its powers contained therein, the Governing Council wishes to commence the process of filling the impending vacancy.

Responsibilities

• The Bursar is a Principal Officer and is the Chief Financial Officer of the University responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day- to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University
• By virtue of this position, the Bursar should be able to provide the Management of the University with appropriate advice and support in all the institution’s financial transactions
• Candidates for the post shall be visionary and have ability to provide leadership, with proven personal integrity and transparency in private and public life and should command respect and attract cooperation and loyalty of staff and students.

Qualifications and Experience
Candidates shall possess the following qualifications and qualities:

• A good Honours Degree in Accounting or Finance. Possession of higher Degree(s) will be an added advantage
• Membership of recognized professional bodies such as ICAN, ANAN, etc.
• ICT compliant with working knowledge of relevant accounting packages.
• Minimum of 15 years cognate working experience in accounting profession, and must have attained senior management positions not below the rank of Deputy Bursar in a university system.
• Shall not be above the age of 55 years at the point of assumption of duty.

Salary and Conditions of Service

• The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable in Nigerian Universities and as may be determined from time to time by the Governing Council.
