Job Title: General Manager (GM)

Location: Calabar

Key Roles/Responsibilities

• Sees him or herself as the image maker and conducts him or herself as a true ambassador.
• Ensure retainerships are secured from Companies.
• Ensure that all the relevant licenses and permits are up to date.
• Develop the facility to attract non-residents for meals and other outdoor catering.
• Coordinate all methods of maintaining and increasing business volume. This includes advertising, sales promotion, community relations, special sales projects.
• Procure new and repeat business for the hotel by maintaining contact with airlines, travel Agencies, Commercial Houses, Private Clubs and Professional Associations within the state and neighboring markets.
• Conducts interviews for hiring of staff to ensure staff productivity.
• Is up-to-date with current market trend and the competition, negotiate with suppliers and ensure best value for money.
• Improve the profitability of all revenue points and ensure at least 70% room occupancy.
• Financial and computer skills must be up to date
• Lead the budget preparation process and manage the budgets
• Excellent interpersonal skills to motivate all the employee and network well in the industry.
• Critical thinking skills, to be able to think of creative and practical solutions to problems in a fast faced environment.
• Responsible for Occupational Health & Safety Act, fire regulations and other legal requirements.

Qualifications & Job Attributes

• Bachelor's Degree (minimum of second class lower)
• Professional qualification
• Minimum of 10 years experience in hospitality management
• Knowledge of Calabar and its environs (an added advantage)
