The U.S. Consulate General, Lagos is seeking to employ a suitable and qualified candidate for the position of Criminal Fraud Investigator in the Regional Security Office (RSO).
Position Title: Criminal Fraud Investigator, FSN-10
Location: Lagos
Basic Function of the Position:
Incumbent will conduct criminal investigations throughout Nigeria and the surrounding region, reporting to the Assistant Regional Security Officer-Investigations Unit (ARSO-I) as part of the Overseas Criminal Investigators (OCI) program. S/he may be called upon to provide court depositions or testimony as part of Nigerian criminal prosecutions. Incumbent will also plan and conduct anti-fraud training programs for post staff and host nation personnel; liaise with U.S. and Nigerian government and law enforcement officials; collect, analyze and disseminate criminal intelligence; and independently conduct the post criminal investigation program in the absence of the ARSO-I.

Position Requirements:

College degree from a recognized college or university in the fields of law enforcement, criminal justice, law, criminology, forensics, social sciences, journalism. Minimum of six months of formal professional training in the fields of investigation, criminal justice, law enforcement, security, fraud/loss prevention, and/or consular work is required.
Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in the fields of investigator, criminal justice, law enforcement, fraud/loss prevention, security and/or consular work is required.
Level IV (Fluent) Speaking/Reading in English is required.
In-depth working knowledge of Nigeria travel documents required. Basic knowledge of security features for travel documents originating from other countries and familiarity with fraud analysis techniques recommended.
Ability to operate with little to no supervision in dynamic and hazardous environments.
Selection Process
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S. Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.
Additional Selection Criteria
Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
Currently employed U.S. Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
Remuneration
Salary: Or – Ordinarily Resident–N4,802,338 p.a. (Starting basic salary) Position Grade: FSN-10
In addition to the basic salary, all allowances will be paid in accordance with the Mission Local Compensation Plan.
