We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Cash Transfer Coordinator

Role Purpose
  • Working closely with the project manager, to support implementation of the cash transfers of the GAC funded ‘Girls’ Education in Crisis in Northeast Nigeria’ project in Yobe, ensuring that the cash transfer component is delivered in a timely manner and to a high quality. In addition, maintain a strong understanding of implementation of the related education outputs.
Scope of Role
  • Role Dimensions: Members of the Country Office (CO) Senior Management Team (SMT) Project Management teams, Budget Holders, Donors, Members and SCI RO/Centre
Key Areas of Accountability
With support from the Project Manager:
  • Support strengthening of state capacity for overall oversight, management and coordination of cash transfer programs (e.g. through trainings and technical support to government and civil society);
  • Help oversee delivery of regular cash transfers and complementary services throughout the programme, identifying and helping ensure the resolution of any problems;
  • Keep an eye on ensuring how the cash transfers can best be taken up by the State government beyond the end of the project;
  • Contribute to regular and timeline monitoring and reporting as required and ensure that key programme lessons are captured and shared with colleagues; and
  • Assist in training of any Save the Children or partner staff on cash transfers.
In liaison with education colleagues, keep informed of and support as needed:
  • The vulnerability mapping with community representatives in order to identify the most vulnerable out-of-school, crisis-affected girls aged 6 to 14.
  • Development of strategies to address the economic barriers impeding the girls’ access to education in collaboration with the community representatives and the families of the girls.
  • Implementation of the cash transfer programs, conditional on the enrolment of girls in school, to allow families to cover their basic needs
  • Provision of livelihoods kits for agricultural or income-generating activities in order to enable the ability to start-up businesses that will strengthen the households economically and enable them retain their children in school beyond the lifespan of the project.
  • Strengthening of  the state-level household economic strengthening (HES) systems where gaps in capacity exist.

Qualifications
  • Post graduate qualification in social policy, social science, international development, economics or related relevant discipline
Experience and Skills:
  • At least a first Degree/HND in relevant course
  • Minimum of 3 years post NYSC relevant work experience.
  • Prior experience of helping deliver cash transfer programmes at scale;
  • Good knowledge of cash transfers, the key principles and debates.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English;
  • Demonstrable track record of meeting or exceeding programme targets, while maintaining technical quality;
  • Ability to represent the programme at a State level on the topic of cash transfer programming as well as to engage with and influence key stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated experience of working with State governments to help strengthen capacity of the state;
  • Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy-in;
  • Experience in leading a team in fieldwork with communities;
  • Commitment to, and understanding of, Save the Children’s aims, values and principles
  • Good team player, with strong communication and interpersonal skills in English;
  • Numerically articulate with experience of using spreadsheets and reporting systems;
  • Self-motivated and results orientated; and
  • Highly diplomatic and emotionally intelligent with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment and passion for the realisation of women’s and girls’ rights and gender equality;
  • Knowledge of women’s rights and gender equality and willingness to strengthen her/his own capacity in this area; and
  • Able to effectively advocate for change and influence others.
