The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, emergency food security, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.
The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters, NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours’ notice when a crisis occurs.

Job Title: Cook
Location: Yola, Adamawa
Reports to: The HR/Admin Officer
Job Description
Cleans food preparation areas
Prepares foods to the specifications of the guests
Prepares food before the arrival of guests
Makes adjustments to food items to accommodate guests with allergies or specific diet concerns
Acts as liaison to front-of-house employees to ensure proper food service temperature
Seasons food according to recipes or guest needs
Orders ingredients and spices as needed
Operates various kitchen appliance such as a blender, oven, grill, or stand mixer
Portions, arranges, and garnishes food based on guests preference
Devises new recipes
Estimates expected food consumption and organises preparation
Keeps records and accounts of food purchases
Orders new menu items for specials or cheap deals
Butchers and cooks animal meat based on the guesthouse atmosphere
Meets with staff to ensure a great meal experience
Prepares any necessary sauces or accompaniments before meal service begins
Alters dishes based on consumer suggestions or requirements
Qualifications
Culinary Arts,
Kitchen Equipment Knowledge,
Butchering, Creativity, Interpersonal Skills,

Fluency in English both written and verbal
Fluency in Hausa and one other local relevant language (spoken)

We Offer
Commencement: ASAP/September 2019
Duration: 4 months (One year renewal)
Salary/benefits: Grade Level 1 (According to NRC’s general directions).
Duty station: Yola, with occasional travels. Travel outside Yola is dependent on changing security conditions, especially for certain roads in the area.
Approved health certificate will be requested before contract start.
