Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko - The Government of Ondo State established Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, in 1999 while academic activities commenced in the year 2000. Within a short period, the University has developed in its academic programmes and infrastructural facilities, to become the pride of Ondo State and Nigeria. The University presently has over 17,000 students across its six Faculties and Postgraduate School and about 1,500 members of staff.

Job Title: Vice Chancellor

The Position

• The Vice Chancellor is the Academic and Administrative Head of the University and is responsible, under the Governing Council and in accordance with the Statute of the University, for organizing and conducting the Academic, Financial and Administrative business of the University.
• The Vice Chancellor, as the Accounting Officer of the Universit will be the chief academic, administrative and financial officer of the University. He/she is the chief disciplinary officer and has authority over all employees and students of the University, subject to the Statute and Conditions of Service of the University.
• The Vice Chancellor is responsible for protecting the integrity of the University.
• The Vice Chancellor is responsible for the promotion of a world-class, high quality University education and the provision of necessary academic and administrative leadership.
• Reporting to the University Council, he has mandate to provide institutional leadership and oversight, develop and drive the vision, mission and strategies for advancement of the University.
• The position calls fur a versatile and respected individual of personal and professional integrity, with a distinguished record of accomplishment in the University system and with proven leadership qualities, administrative and intellectual capabilities as well as teaching and research credentials.

The Person
The candidate, who should be a seasoned academic, should possess the following minimum academic qualifications and competencies:

• Be a holder of an earned Doctorate (Ph.D) Degree, in addition to a good first degree,. from a reputable University;
• Have attained the position of a full professor for at least 5 years from the date of this advertisement and must have held senior administrative responsibility in a recognized University;
• Be a visionary and strategic leader with the skills and competencies to champion the University’s Vision and Strategic Objectives;
• Be an accomplished academic with a proven track record of quality research and publications in top global journals;
• Have a proven track record of attracting research grants and funding support into any relevant University System;
• Have a demonstrated and proven record of substantial experience in international research partnership, networking, team building, fundraising/resource mobilization and collaborative research.

Terms of Appointment

• The Vice Chancellor shall hold office for one term of five (5) years.
• The terms and conditions of appointment are very attractive and shall be determined according to the University’s Statute and Conditions of Service.
