Head of Supply Chain at a Leading Manufacturing Company

A leading Manufacturing company in the Food and Beverage industry located in Apapa, Lagos State is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced candidate to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head of Supply Chain

Location: Lagos
Department: Supply Chain
Directly Reports to: Managing Director
Directly Supervises: Head Procurement and Materials Manager

Job Summary

• The primary objective is to manage and lead the SCM function.The suitable candidate will ensure the efficient organization, implement effective SCM procedures and policies to drive rapid improvement of the function in the company.

Job Roles and Responsibilities

• Implement effective strategies for cost efficiency and process optimization in an ethical and transparent manner.
• Plan and execute strategies that will ensure adequate procurement, custody and supply of raw materials, spares, lubricants packaging items etc
• Required to drive rapid improvement in functional standards across all activities at both strategic and operational level. Set up procedures, cost monitoring and management reporting systems.
• Establish and monitor agreed SCM Key Performance Indicators and encourage timely implementation of corrective actions on identified deviations from set goals.
• Provide Effective Leadership to Procurement and Materials Departments/Functions.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, career management, training and personal development of staff.
• Provide necessary support to business functions for annual plans and Technical Work Program.
• Engage with internal customers to review performance of SCM functions and initiate corrective actions as necessary.
• Achieve continuous improvements in Lost Time Incidents in all SCM units with a year-on-year improvement in the range of 50% and above.
• Manage number of claims and achieve closeout of all contracts and purchase orders as per schedule.
• Prepare and operate an annual budget for the Department.
• Ensure implementation of QMS, FMS, FSSC, OHSAS and any other management system

Educational Requirements

• MBA, B.Sc and membership of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management or any other relevant Supply Chain Professional body

Required Experience:

• A minimum of 18 years’ experience across middle level and top managerial position in the role especially in the Food & Beverage Industry.

Skills and Competencies:

• Good working knowledge in all facets of Contracts, Procurement, Imports and International Trade processes, Outsourcing, Warehousing and Materials management. A good understanding of local content administration in company projects is also required.
• Excellent leadership and business skills, including staff career development, knowledge transfer and training.
• Experience of working with personnel from diverse cultural backgrounds and technical expertise.
• Ability to build relationships with, and effectively challenge and influence diverse department managers.
• Very good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
• High level of personal ethics.
