Job Title: Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Management (QHSE) Officer

Location: Lagos
Reporting line: QHES Manager
Employment Type: Full Time

Tasks

Manage Safety functions in line with business policies, procedures and standards.
Ensure conformance with safety and OHSAS 14001 & 18001:2007 standards and requirements on the base.
Identify system problems, investigate and recommend solutions.
Participate in Safety Incident Investigations and Risk assessments
Conduct internal audits.
Facilitate root cause investigations of non-conformances and take necessary corrective and preventative actions.
Motivate and oversee the implementation of Safety improvement initiatives.
Coordinate and attend regular Safety meetings.
Arrange and/or conduct induction training.
Prepare and forward weekly reports to your line manager.
Perform a monthly H&S inspection at the company’s work sites
Ensure company policies are adhered to by carrying out regular site inspections
Liaise with client’s HSE/security/operational staff to carry out regular HSE tests/drills, fire-fighting practice and other drills to keep the workers alert and sensitive to their environment.
Provide expertise and compliance support for project management.
Implement permit to work when required and assist dept. to fill up the work box preparation
Monitor daily permit to work implementation and revalidation
Assist the department in managing organisation-wide change relating to health, safety and environment.
Assists in speedy and smooth response and action in case of emergencies.
Any other responsibility that may be assigned by your line manager

Qualification/Experience
Requirement:

University degree in Engineering, or Science in Oil and Gas related discipline
HSE Certification 1, 2, 3 and other HSE related certifications Experience
National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
At least 3 - 5 years’ experience in an Operational HSE environment.

Knowledge Skill and Abilities:

Knowledge of HSE legislation and best practice;
Command of the English language including grammar, spelling and punctuation;
Computer literate to include word processing, data management and email correspondence;
Ability to produce a range of reports and statistical information;
Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills;
Reporting of all incidents in line with set HSEQ and Security procedures.
Ability to delegate to his/her subordinates for day to day activities.
Sound organisational skills, with the ability to prioritize and react at short notice;
Ability to ensure that the highest standards of quality are achieved;
Ability to form successful relationships, working with all levels of the organization;
Ability to work flexibly and under own initiative to achieve objectives;

Salary
N150,000/Month.
