News: Taraba Engages 1,000 Teachers

A total of one thousand teachers who qualified in the recent interview conducted by Taraba State Management Board have been selected for employment into the state civil service.

The State Commissioner for Education, Honourable Mathas Dan-Azumi disclosed this recently while speaking with Education- Tribune in Jalingo.

The commissioner said the successful candidates were selected on merit, pointing out that all arrangement have been concluded to offer appointment letters to them.

According to him, what delayed the release of the result of the interview was that some of the candidates who qualified for employment did not include the subjects or courses they studied in the universities or colleges of education.

Honourable Dan-Azumi noted that education is the bedrock of every development; as such the process of employing teachers must be done with caution and all sense of responsibility.

Meanwhile, the state Acting Governor Alhaji Garba Umar has reaffirmed government commitment towards providing all the necessary inputs to farmers to enhance productivity in the agricultural sectors.

The acting governor stated this yesterday while delivering a speech during the matriculation ceremony of the 2014 admitted students of the state College of Agriculture, Jalingo.

Represented by the secretary to the state government Mr Gavey Yaweh, the acting governor noted that government at all levels give serious attention to agriculture to ensure food security and poverty alleviation amongst others in the country and the state in particular hence the need to encourage collective participation.

The acting governor who was overwhelmed with the approval granted to the college by the NBTE to run ND and HND Programmes in Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology at the College also promised to look into the various challenges facing the institution.

Umar used the forum to warn the matriculating students against all forms of examination malpractice Cultism and other related anti-social vices that will truncate the existence of peace in the college.
