News: FG To Create 30,000 Jobs Through Sports

FG - Between now and the end of 2014, President Goodluck Jonathan's administration will create 30,000 career opportunities for youth, professionals and community-based professionals while targeting about one million kids for a sport career within the next four years.

Speaking during a courtesy visit on her, the Special Adviser to the President on Social Development, Mrs Sarah Pane said, "Mr President has always been disturbed on how his administration will make the future of children and youths be organized and settled, Mrs. Pane said, "we are happy to associate and work with some ex-international sports brands to deliver the Basic Olympic Opportunity Sports Training (BOOST) project. We shall equip kids and children to pick sports of their choice, train them, expose and develop them to become top rate professionals who will rule the world in a couple of years to come."

She thanked the initiators of the project for their painstaking efforts to get the project to this implementable stage. "As a mother, I realize how much this project will bring succor, fame, money and above all create very strong citizens."

Responding, the Chief Executive Officer of the Goldenwings33 Nigeria Limited, Olajide Fashikun said, we are happy to bring the office of the Special Adviser on Social Development to partner us in taking this project to the Nigerian children."

"Those of us who initiated this project are only desirous of producing Nigerian children who are going to be better athletes who can achieve what we could not achieve when we competed, athletes who will rule the world from here."

The former captain of the national handball team said that 36 primary and secondary schools will be exposed to eight sports with the best of coaches on a sound contract based on performance. The eight sports to benefit from the programme are handball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, athletics, weightlifting and badminton.
