We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Music Director

Location: Delta

Job Descriptions

• Lead regular music rehearsals, dictating the volume, phrasing and tempo of each piece, and conduct the group during performances throughout the year.
• Select music that will be a good fit for the musicians and offer a challenge, as well as appeal to your audience, and transpose music as needed.
• Examine musical scores to determine your interpretation and develop a deep understanding of the piece before presenting it to group members.
• Choose soloists for special events and coordinate rehearsals so soloists and groups can adequately prepare for concerts.
• Oversee staff daily as they copy and arrange music and provide coaching to the musicians.
• Record CD tracks so musicians can listen to difficult sections of individual parts.
• Schedule performances and arts outreach opportunities, and collaborate with program directors to identify new music events.
• Evaluate group members every quarter and provide in-depth feedback so all musicians can work on their craft to achieve higher stages of excellence.
• Prepares rehearsal / performance calendars for all musicians.
• Distributes and coordinates the distribution of necessary paperwork to musicians.
• Schedule regular maintenance of musical instruments.
• Monitor and maintain budgetary constraints.
• Stay updated on latest developments in music industry.
• Check email on a regular and consistent basis, and respond to all work emails in a timely manner
• Attend all scheduled rehearsals, and all performances.
• Set an example of professional behavior in rehearsal and in performance that teaches harmonious relationships and teamwork, centered on the purpose of creating a successful production
• Assist Director, Choreographer and Stage Manager in creating weekly schedule. Assist with flow of communication
• Hold Orchestra auditions and hire all musicians

Job Skills &Qualifications

• Should possess a Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, Vocal Performance, or related degree
• Proficient in at least 3 musical instruments, piano playing and sight-reading
• Should possess a calm / Professional demeanor
• Must have working knowledge of professional theatre producing practices and personnel management
• Should possess knowledge of instruments and instrumentation for a theatrical pit orchestra
• Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Dropbox
• Ability to manage shifting and competing priorities
• Exercise good judgment and discretion.

• Ability to execute projects efficiently and according to schedule
