Monitoring & Partner Insights Professionals at Mastercard Foundation

Posted on Wed 03rd Jun, 2020 - hotnigerianjobs.com --- (0 comments)

Mastercard Foundation is a global foundation based across four hubs in Kigali, Rwanda, Nairobi, Kenya, Accra, Ghana and Toronto, Canada. Our programs promote financial inclusion and advance education and learning in Africa, primarily for young people, and in Canada for Indigenous youth. The Foundation was established in 2006 through the generosity of Mastercard when it became a public company. From inception, the Foundation was designed to be a separate entity and independent from Mastercard. Our policies, operations, and funding decisions are made by our President and Board of Directors.

The Foundation believes that youth employment is key to unlocking prosperity, both for youth and their societies. Enabling young women and men from disadvantaged communities to secure dignified and fulfilling work will ensure inclusive development and economic growth in Africa.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Monitoring & Partner Insights

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

The Work at the Foundation
We have entered a very exciting time at the Foundation as we scale up our operations across Africa to realize our Young Africa Works strategy. Our role at the Mastercard Foundation is to be a catalyst. Our Young Africa Works strategy focuses on working with others to spur systemic change so young people have the opportunity to find work that is dignified and fulfilling.

The Foundation has opened offices in Rwanda, Kenya, Ghana, Senegal, Ethiopia, Nigeria and Uganda, building a broader leadership presence in Africa to develop specific strategies that support youth employment.  Within a country, we work with governments, the private sector, educators and other funders to improve the quality of education and vocational training, prepare young people for the work force, expand access to financial services for entrepreneurs and small businesses, and connect job seekers to dignified and fulfilling work.

We are ambitious and driven. Our values transcend and rise above everything else as our guide. We encourage you to bring your bold ideas, curiosity, and expertise to your work. We laugh at ourselves and with each other. We are a team. Our journey together makes our impact even more meaningful.

If you are an experienced monitoring and insight professional ready to build something new and increase your impact, read on!

Understanding & Measuring Impact

  • The Foundation has developed a comprehensive strategy for understanding and measuring Impact through a more holistic approach. In this context, Impact spans from the effects that our investments trigger directly in creating work opportunities, upwards to the significant changes and outcomes derived from the influence that the Mastercard Foundation Programs have on the institutional and system level changes in policies, practices and larger investments that open-up for expanded impact, at scale, on youth employment.
  • Working with young women and men in Africa represents a unique opportunity to develop, implement, and learn from programming and influencing activities in ways that value African and Indigenous ways of being and knowing. Impact measurement and the associated narratives will be guided by youth-focused lenses and located within the nexus of nationally owned strategies and global best practices and thought leadership. The methodologies, tools and insights throughout this journey will be determined and co-created in partnership with youth and other Indigenous vectors of knowledge in communities and countries where we work.

The Opportunity

  • Reporting to the Nigerian Country Head, the Monitoring & Partner Insights (MPI) will work in collaboration with the in-Country Impact Team; and receive guidance and support from the enterprise-wide Impact Team. In this role, you are the point person responsible for collating progress, monitoring data, insights and agreed KPIs from the implementing Partners, as well as serving as a liaison for generating insights that have implications for learning and adaptive management of the relationships between implementing partners and MCF. The MPI will also support Country Program Teams, Partners and other Stakeholders in data collection, report writing, and documentation of best practices achieved as a result of the MCF Partnership.
  • The MPI will also support the Partners to develop robust monitoring tools and collate quality reports that will contribute to Progress Reporting and change stories on Partner implementation following established guidelines, as well as conducting audits and verification of project data.

Ways You Can Contribute

  • Coordinate the process of developing a robust, Partner-level M&E plan and frameworks including developing indicators and tools for measuring progress in MCF-funded investments, cognizant of the needs for Partners to up-scale their investments to contribute towards outcomes.
  • Supports MCF Partners and their stakeholder community of young women and men to streamline their M&E systems with the emerging shifts in Impact strategies and measurement at the Foundation level.
  • Implements the MCF investment tracking systems and monitoring framework and coordinate tasks and processes for monitoring progress on key agreed indicators.
  • Coordinate the surfacing of key insights, especially from young women and men, lead and manage documentation of the data emerging from these insights.
  • Provides technical support and training to Partner staff and stakeholders on use of the monitoring framework, participatory monitoring methodologies and documentation tools, as they relate to the new data, knowledge and technology architecture within the Foundation.
  • Records and analyses Partner monitoring data to support effective progress reporting and decision making.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's in Development Studies / Social Sciences / Economics / Statistics or its equivalent. Post-graduate degree in any of the above will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience ideally from roles that required collecting, collating, analyzing and reporting data, in either public, private and non-government institutions.
  • Experience leading and/or working directly in M&E functions of development projects as well as supporting Partner organizations and other stakeholders to conduct data collection and M&E activities.
  • Experience in using and/or training others on relevant M&E software (MS office, in design, Acrobat, Internet, web).
  • In-depth knowledge of current issues in youth-focused challenges and perspectives particularly in work opportunities, the tech sector, agriculture, medium and small-scale enterprises.
  • Current effective practice on M&E; membership of any M&E associations in-country and internationally.
  • Good understanding of gender and gender transformative programming as well as significant MER experience working in an emergency response context.
  • Pro-active and highly committed to monitoring and sharing the results of M&E studies and activities for purposes of adaptive management and learning.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the capacity to relate to young women and men, and the ability to facilitate sessions with youth learning and development groups.
  • Fluency in English is required. Ability to speak local Nigerian language(s) is highly preferred.
  • Dexterity in the development and experience using online tools for data collection, collation, analysis; as well as use of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, writing blogs and transcribing youth-focused narratives and indigenous knowledge.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to execute a range of job duties and changing priorities.
  • Possess excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate information to a variety of constituents across cultures.
  • Possess professional maturity, sensitivity with different cultures, and impeccable integrity that exemplify the Foundation’s values.
  • You have a commitment to Mastercard Foundation’s values and vision
