Provide strategic management of the Finance function at the company level
Work with the Board, CEO and Business Heads to evaluate investment and acquisitions opportunities
Establish and oversee the accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls for the company, including but not limited to revenue recognition, cash management and controls, expense approval authorities, depreciation schedules, etc
Oversee the reporting of company financial activity to tax authorities, Board of Directors, and outside investors
Facilitate organizational accountability and transparency, while providing strategic leadership
Set up a budgeting process for the company, and work with business heads to prepare budgets, report results, analyse variance and initiate corrective actions
Work with the CEO to analyse organization operations, and to identify opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement
Assist the CEO and Board of Directors with strategic initiatives by studying market and economic trends and risks, and how to take advantage of opportunities and mitigate risks
Assist with presentations to shareholders, investors, and potential partners
Hire and oversee external financial advisors as needed, including auditors and tax professionals
Provide critical support for strategic planning, market growth strategy, and shareholder relations
Provide financial projections, accounting services, and managing the financial risks of the company
Develop and articulate a comprehensive financial management strategy for the company
Act as chief advisor and strategist providing needed support to the CEO, employees, and Board with respect to the identification of financial risk, and the resolution of attendant issues
Provide analysis, insight, and advice on financial performance to the CEO, and Business Unit Leaders for sound decision making for the company
Develop internal reports and metrics to provide useful information for management of the business
Direct the Finance department in providing and directing procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records; afford adequate accounting and project controls; and facilitate accurate and timely preparation of financial statements
Direct and analyse the general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organization’s policies and financial operations
Work closely with the CEO to analyse new business opportunities. Perform financial and tax due diligence, as needed
Work with the CEO and the Head of Human Resources on financial management and oversight of employee benefit and compensation plans
Support CEO and Board of Directors in governance and committee participation (audit, stock, finance)
Operational Responsibilities:
Balance short term concerns and pressures such as managing cash, liquidity and profitability and long-term vision and sustainable organizational success
Share strategic leadership responsibilities with the CEO and other senior managers and ensure the Finance function supports the business at a strategic and operational level
Drive and manage change and innovation within the company
Engage and communicate effectively with colleagues, investors, customers, suppliers, regulators, and other internal and external stakeholders
Maintain existing investment arrangements and evaluate future investment needs and vehicles
Identify potential strategic investment trends and opportunities
Create and maintain a team of professionals (internal or external) to originate, analyse, finance, close and manage investments
Work with the Board and the company’s business heads to identify and evaluate the capital needed and investment returns of potential new projects of the Group, including acquisitions, investments, and expansion project.
Requirements
Minimum of first degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or any related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage
Relevant professional certifications e.g. Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Association of Certified and Chartered Accountants (ACCA) or its equivalent is mandatory
Minimum of 12 years cognate experience
Minimum of 6 years of experience as CFO or C Level Finance Executive, with evidence of regular engagement with the Executive team and Financial partners in any of the Energy, Commercial, Oil and Gas sector.
