Summary

  • The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Duties

  • The incumbent serves as the principal Specialist to the Supervisory General Services Officer (S/GSO) and two General Services Officers (GSO) and is responsible for the support oversight, work guidance and coordination of the GSO sub sections which include Housing/Real Estate, Motor pool, Travel, Property Management, Acquisitions/Procurement, and Customs and Shipping, and other sections and offices within Management and Mission Nigeria (Abuja and Lagos).
  • Serves as the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for the Mission’s petroleum products contracts of approximately 2 million liters annually, (over $3.9 million) and the Photocopier Service contract of over $500,000.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements
Experience:

  • Five years experience in managing administration, finance & accounting, personnel and/or Logistics is required.   

Job Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of customs and working practices (e.g. bargaining practices, cultivating relationships with government and private sector contacts) as well as general structure of administrative offices, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Customs is required.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required.

Evaluations

  • Language:  Fluency in Speaking/Reading English.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have good keyboarding skills with emphasis on accuracy, as well as the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills including ability to work with others under stressful circumstances.
  • Must be customer service oriented and be able to proactively solve problems independently by taking initiative.
  • Must be able to persuade and influence others inside and outside the formal chain of command.
  • Must be able to effectively manage projects and plan meetings.

Agency Benefits:

  • Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Abuja, Nigeria may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
  • For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
  • The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
