Job Summary
Head, Agency will be responsible for the establishment, growth, and early management of an innovative neo bank with an agency banking business line.
Responsibilities
Lead the structuring development with hands-on intervention where and when needed of the team and the neobank with agency banking business across the country
Develop and oversee the execution of a robust agent onboarding process (agents’ selection, agents’ business pitch, document validation, branding, training, and provision of the device and technology as applicable) in compliance with set out regulatory guidelines
Develop and oversee the execution of an agent monitoring and support framework– (liquidity management, visits by Agency Network Managers) to maintain an active agency channel
Work with all stakeholders to ensure stable and effective service delivery on agent banking channels (minimal service downtimes, efficient agent service levels agreements, and recourse systems) to maintain an active agent network
Collect, consolidate and act on neobank with agency banking performance business reports to inform a sustainable agent channel, good customer experience, and product performance
Collect and consolidate reports for neobank with agency banking for onward submission to the regulator as per agreed timelines.
Scope the market for solutions to inform agent banking channel growth and evolution
Develop agent banking training curriculum and oversee the execution of the training plan (training of trainers for bank
staff and agents training)
Build capacity, manage, and coach team members (among others overlook and interact with the technology team)
Manage numerous international partners, including intergovernmental organizations
Extend product portfolio offering when and as needed, on the basis of the existing business proposition and strategy
Facilitate relevant training and communication to agents on issues of irregularities, non-compliance as well as action plans on the way forward
Work with marketing vendors/ teams to develop effective merchandising and branding plans – Agent Management Toolkit
Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
Agent growth vs churn rate must be positive and within threshold agreed month on month
Income/ Profitability per agent must be positive and within Threshold agreed month on month
Cost containment within budget defined limits
Regulatory compliance with no infractions
Process implementation must be aligned with business objectives
TAT on issue resolution must be within thresholds defined month on month
Achievement of milestones & financial targets set by shareholders
Preferred Qualifications
Interested candidates should possess a First Degree in a relevant field with 3 - 5 years cognate experience.
Managerial experience in fintech or startups with (distributed) teams of 10+ members, internationally relevant
Experience is a significant bonus
Experience in the agency banking field is a significant bonus
International experience is a significant bonus
Familiarity with agile methodology, cloud technology, tech. product management and continuous product release cycle management is expected
Experience in business scaling, growth management, product portfolio expansion, and asset management is expected
Skill & Competency Requirements:
Core Skills:
Extensive knowledge of the tech-driven neobank and/or challenger bank market & philosophy
Familiarity & intuitive understanding of contemporary technological developments are expected, e.g. proficiency with complex technological processes the like of rapid CI/CD cycles, cloud infrastructure operations, cryptographic data security, etc.
Acquaintance with the steering of heavily tech-dependent businesses
Readiness to work with Google, Aws, Slack cloud solutions and tools
Acquaintance with a data-driven approach to sales and customer retention, e.g. a/b testing and business intelligence
Understanding of the microfinance and agency banking space in Nigeria
Understanding of the Nigerian financial & economic markets and regulations
Familiarity with accounting, budgeting, and reporting processes
Team building and team management
Acquaintance with collaboration in international and multicultural professional environments
Negotiation & clear communication skills
Good presentation skills
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
