Gecko Five is positioned to become the fastest-growing modern sports media brand in Africa. We aim to create the largest reach and engagement of millennials and Gen Z audiences across Africa. Every month, African millennial audiences will turn to Gecko Five publications across multiple channels for impactful conversation around the interests and issues engaging sports today. Gecko Five was founded in 2020 and is headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria.

Job Description

• We created Gecko 5 to solve a problem in how sports content is consumed and shared in Africa. We are bringing African fans into the conversations about sports – they are passionate about.
• We are looking for a Content Creator for Social to transform how we are culturally relevant to urban millennials and Gen-Z Africans on social.
• You will be working on strategy and off-platform storytelling.
• We’re looking for someone with a passion for serving the audience through short, light-weight stories on social.
• The right candidate is a highly creative thinker and storyteller, with strong writing / presentation skills.
• You should be able to translate the Gecko voice and tone to social media, track audience trends and social conversations, and make complex news accessible and informative for our audience on social media.
• You will be a part of the Gecko content team, a team of creators whose focus is to increase traffic to our channels, increase loyalty, tell off-platform stories and provide meaningful opportunities for the Gecko audience to engage with sports they are passionate about.
• Gecko Five ignites conversations and influences culture. Across digital, podcasts, videos, streaming, and live events, we tell stories that affect our audience’s daily lives and entertain as much as they inform.
• We understand People, and we are obsessed with creating/sharing stories about things people are obsessed about. We want to explain sports to Africans by giving them the relevant content and context they need, when they need it, and where they will find it.
