The U.S. Mission to Nigeria comprises of the Embassy in Abuja, FCT, and the Consulate General in Lagos. U.S. Consulate General Lagos is the Mission’s representative to the Nigerian people in the southern region.

Duties
Basic Function:

• Under the supervision of the Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) Site Security Manager (SSM), serves as the Foreign Services National Investigator (FSNI)/Security Investigator for all security related activities associated with the construction of the New Consulate Compound (NCC).
• Works independently and provides security and secretarial services in support of the project including background investigations, screening calls, file maintenances, etc.
• Maintains liaison with local police, OBO contractors, Local Guard Force (LGF), security organizations and other security authorities.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements
Experience:  

• Minimum of three (3) years of security related progressively responsible experience in investigative work with police or private security organization is required.

Job Knowledge:  

• Good working knowledge of procedures and policies of the security office with regards to conducting background investigations and determining suitability for employment and access to U.S. government facilities is required. Good working knowledge of Nigeria legal system and institutions, criminal law, and international security standards and regulations procedures is required. Good working knowledge of documentary sources of information is required.

Education Requirements:

• Two years of post-secondary education is required.

Evaluations:

• This may be tested. Please specify your level of proficiency in the language listed.

Language:  

• Good working knowledge reading / writing / speaking English is required. 

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to maintain extensive contacts with officials of various local agencies, as well as ability to exercise initiative and use research skills in obtaining information or evidence is required. 
• Good computer skills in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Ability to draft concise reports and letters of inquiry in English is required. 
• Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain contacts with officials of various agencies.
• Must be able to conduct thorough interviews and evaluate honesty of candidates or employee.
• Must hold a valid Nigeria driver's license.

Agency Benefits:

• The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
