Job Title: Accountant

Job Description

• An accountant is needed to manage all financial transactions, small level auditing/internal controls and various budget forecasting.
• Responsibilities include auditing financial documents and procedures, reconciling bank statements, conducting inventory counts, detecting and eliminating fraud/errors and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist Finance manager to obtain financial data from several sources such as expenses incurred in the month, day, etc.
• Prepare monthly/weekly performance report (profit/Loss) for the Company.
• Perform systems analysis to identify any irregularities (such as wrong posting) and propose immediate corrective actions.
• Ensure that internal controls are enhanced and maintained at an acceptable level,
• Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings
• Reconcile accounts payable and receivable
• Compute taxes and prepare tax returns
• Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements
• Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity
• Audit financial transactions and documents
• Comply with financial policies and regulations
• Provide technical support and advice on management
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
• Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
• Communicate with Manager and/or Director on work status and client issues that arise
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Requirements

• B.Sc in Accounting, Finance or relevant Degree
• Work experience as an Accountant. Minimum of four years.
• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Hands-on experience with accounting software like Sage/Peachtree
• Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
• Auditing experience
• Experience with creating financial statements
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.

Salary
N75,000 - N150,000 monthly.
