Job Description

• We are seeking to hire a qualified and experienced Designer. S/he will be responsible for creating designs and sketches for collections.
• S/he will sketch designs, select fabrics, and patterns, and liaise with the production supervisor on how to make the designed outfits.
• As the designer, s/he will also consult with clients to create unique designs that meet their needs and specifications.

Job Responsibilities

• Create designs and sketches
• Produce clear and detailed fashion illustrations by hand or CAD
• Create mood boards that project collections ahead of the sketching and design process
• Be present at consultations and liaise with clients till the final sketch is approved
• Create 3D designs during consultations
• Confer with clients to understand their design needs and provide feedback to the creative director on presented ideas
• Work with the production supervisor to select each style’s fabric, trims, materials, and colours that fit into the design plan
• Work collaboratively with the creative director and operations manager in sourcing and procuring fabrics, trims, and other materials
• Oversee the pattern drafting, cutting, and production of the samples
• Manage design process from conception through to final styling.
• Research current fashion trends and determine what consumers will like
• Collaborate with the design team to develop ideas for new products based on research data
• Perform other tasks as assigned

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree / HND in Design, Fine Arts or related field
• Certification in Fashion Design is a plus
• 2-4 years’ experience in a related field
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel or related software
• Ability to do sketches by hand.
• Excellent design and conceptual skills.
• Excellent sense of style and colour.
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to meet multiple deadlines.
