Job Title: Security Services Consultant (Abuja) - Short Term

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Details

• The Incumbent will discharge his/her assignment under the guidance of the Associate Director Management Support Services to support safe implementation of Program activities through close cooperation.
• The Incumbent will mitigate the risks posed to Programs and assets through provision of expertise and focused Security Management support.
• The Incumbent will take the lead in enhancing staff safety and Security management for the Organisation - and will assist to ensure that organizational security policies and procedures are constantly revised to remain responsive to the context.
• S / he will ensure that security plans, policies and measures are developed to current international standards and practices and appropriate to changing security environment.
• The incumbent will also ensure provision of early warning advice affecting security situations for Organization Program activities and may require extensive travel to all States of implementation on short notice to support staff capacity to work more effectively and contribute to reducing operational vulnerabilities.

Job Role

• Carry out security risk assessments;
• Update State contingency plan;
• Conduct periodic and appropriate rapid site security survey;
• Provide training and capacity building for staff;
• Develop strategies to improve security management system.

Qualifications and Experiences
Education:

• Bachelor's Degree preferable in Security Management or related field. Master's Degree is desirable.
• Professional certification in security risk management or advanced security management highly desirable.
• Local languages proficiency also desirable.

Technical:

• Minimum of 7 - 10 years working in security Industry, experience working in complex insecure settings preferred. Minimum of 4 years working in Security management for NGO or development organization will be an added advantage;
• Experience in liaising with law enforcement agencies in Nigeria;
• Experience in managing incidents, incident mapping, developing and producing high quality security reports and assessments.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Experience working for international organization(s) and an understanding of security strategies for humanitarian operations and previous security experience preferred;
• Effective interpersonal skills, writing, communication, analytic, creative problem Solving, conflict and ethical management skills, strong assessment, evaluation, analysis and strategic planning;
• Ability to develop security related technical tools, guidelines and systems as well as able to work under minimal supervision.
