Aminu Saleh College Of Education, Azare is Bauchi state-owned college of education established as an Advanced Teachers’ College in 1977. Currently, all the courses in National Policy on Education except French and Fulfulde have been mounted. Also the College has Directorate of Pre-NCE and Remedial Studies. The College had started the undergraduate programme in affiliation with the University of Maiduguri in the 2009/2010 Academic Session.

Job Summary

• The Provost is the Chief Executive of the College.
• Candidate for the post must demonstrate evidence of strong Academic and Administrative leadership, initiative and be creative in policy formulation, good human relations and positive managerial attributes.

Duties

• The successful candidate would be expected to provide required Academic, Administrative and professional leadership for the College in executing the policies laid down by the Governing Council for the achievement of the objectives for which the College was established.
• He/She shall foster good rapport with the relevant organs of the Government, National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and other professional bodies.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess a Doctorate Degree from a recognized University in a field relevant to at least one (1) programme in the College.
• He/she should be a registered and active member of a Professional Association in the field of Education.
• The possession of a professional teaching qualification, a minimum of Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) or Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) in addition to registration as a Professional Teacher with Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is MANDATORY.
• Candidate must have held Senior Teaching, Research and Top Administrative posts in Institution of Higher learning and must not be below the rank of Chief Lecturer in a College of Education or its equivalent in other tertiary Educational Institutions.
• Candidate must not be above the age of fifty-nine (59) years at the time of taking up the appointment.
• Candidate must show evidence of good track record in teaching and research in Tertiary Institutions and Publications in National and International Journals.
• Candidate must be of good conduct, possesses sense of discipline, dedication, drive and resourcefulness.
• He/she must be free from personal, sectional, ethnic, political or religious bias.
• Candidates from catchment area are at advantage.

Terms of Appointment

• The appointment is for an initial period of four (4) years and may be eligible for re-appointment for a second tem of four (4) years based on satisfactory performance.
• The salary attached to the post is according to the College Conditions and Schemes of Service and is consolidated.
