Job Summary
The Community Affairs Head will be responsible for coordinating, directing and managing the Community Affairs related matters for the organisation in other to provide and promote conducive business environment at every point in time.
Responsibilities
Leadership and People Management:
Provide strong leadership and ensure clear strategic objectives are in place for the department
Support the implementation and facilitation of relevant workshops and training courses
Promote the organization’s core values and a strong team culture
Manage the day to day performance, learning and development of the team, including one on one feedback sessions and conduct performance appraisals
Other Responsibilities
Plan, organize, coordinate and monitor community affairs management of the company
Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other policies for the organisation as related to community affairs
Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with community heads, landlords and other relevant stakeholders to promote peace within the host community
To monitor the implementation of Early Warning Systems (EWS) and community surveillance system for timely ante conflict action and ensure coordination and monitoring of company’s community development programmes.
Represent OPAC in court for case(s) charged to court-in liaison with court prosecutors where necessary
Represent OPAC in all the community relations functions either in the community or with government and other stakeholders.
Promote an enabling environment that would enhance operational effectiveness of the company without disruption to the host community.
Holds periodic meetings with the CLOs, chiefs, government agencies and other stakeholders on conflict management and resolutions
Promotes and Proactively manages the image of the company to various segments of the public government agencies, groups and media
Coordinate timely reporting of issues and incidents according to stipulated format, platform and supporting documentation.
Other lawful duties as may be directed by your line of report or designated authority.
Job Requirements
Minimum of First Degree or a Higher National Diploma in Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science, or related discipline
Demonstrated success in public / community relations to include handling Land acquisition challenges and Community boundary disputes and Inter State boundary disagreement
Origin and knowledge of State / Terrain / Culture
Experience in liaising with communities, civilians, police and / or military government authorities as well as with regional institutions preferable.
