A leading multinational gold mining and exploration company in Nigeria, is recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Database Geologist

Location: Ilesa, Osun

Responsibilities

• The Database Geologist is responsible for the management of drill data, QA/QC and general system maintenance.
• The job holder will also be responsible for carrying out geological programs including, mapping, sampling, planning drill programs, drilling and reporting.
• While she/he will also develop, maintain & reconcile Block Models, Assess & supervise development of resource deposits.
• In Addition, the DG will Assist to Coordinate and manage all Near Mine Exploration Programs
• Contribute to writing of technical reports detailing results of Near Mine Exploration programs.
• Generate QA/QC reporting on monthly, quarterly and yearly basis and recommend corrective actions.
• Whenever necessary, organise umpire assays to be submitted outside the mine site as a check on the Mine site Lab results
• Whenever required provide daily and weekly QAQC progress report to help arrest any foreseeable issues.
• Ensure daily toolbox meeting are conducted
• Fatigue management
• Hazard identification and reporting
• Proper use of hand-held radio
• Wearing of required PPE
• Ensure proper housekeeping and cleanliness at all working and abandoned areas. Collect and burn other dirty remains and cover stains of grease, diesel, oil, etc. with soil
• Make sure that any sump prepared for drilling or any other purpose is covered soon after the hole is finished
• Make sure that vehicles are driven with the maximum speed limit and regulations set for the site
• Ensure all accidents are immediately reported
• Ensure all company policies for Safety and Environment are adhered to.
• Complete site, mine area and mine geology induction
• Coordinate daily Near Mine Exploration activities including mapping, stream and soil sampling, trenching, pitting, drilling, sampling and data interpretation to generate more ounces to extend the Life Of Mine
• Assist the Development Geologist in all Near Mine Operations
• Planning and overseeing soil sampling, pitting, trenching and auger drilling programs
• RC and DD hole planning, drilling and sampling supervision
• See to the collection of Geological Samples, preparation and submission to laboratory.
• Ensure that there is no unnecessary standby time during drilling program
• Checking on drillers’ daily plod sheets before signing off invoices
• Entering of daily drilling data in software provided
• Field orientation and topographical mapping including the use of GPS, compass, uploading and downloading waypoints, tracks etc
• Capturing all drill hole data into Fusion database.
• Monitoring and validation of all incoming and outgoing data from the database.
• Accurate and on time storage of data and plotting of results
• Analyse and generate a 3D structural, and geological models from mapping and logging data.
• Assay QA/QC monitoring and reporting on monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.
• Assay laboratory auditing at least once every quarter.
• Writing SQL scripts for querying and reporting.
• Provide support of the GIS systems to new users across the business.
