Discovering Talents Academy, a fast-growing Nursery and Primary School in Gwarinpa, Abuja is recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head of English Department / Head Teacher

Location: Gwarinpa, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

• Determining, organising and implementing an appropriate British literacy curriculum for the school, having regard to the needs, experience, interests, aptitudes and stage of development of the pupils and the resources available to the school
• Evaluating the standards of teaching and learning in the school and ensuring that proper standards of professional performance are established and maintained.
• Ensuring teaching is delivered in a timely, effective, and efficient manner
• Supervising and participating in arrangements made in accordance with regulations for the appraisal of the performance of teachers in the school.
• Ensuring that all teachers under the primary or nursery school as the case may be have support and training appropriate to their needs.
• Provide a weekly report that sets out progress and the key milestones as well as the challenges and targets for the succeeding week.
• Providing information about the work and performance of the teachers employed at the school where this is relevant to their future employment.
• Ensuring that the progress of pupils of the school is monitored and recorded.
• Ensuring the maintenance of good order and discipline at all times during the school day (including the midday break) when pupils are present on the school premises.
• Making arrangements for parents to be given regular information about the school curriculum, the progress of their children and other matters affecting the school, so as to promote a common understanding of its aims.
• Promoting effective relationships with persons and bodies outside the school.
• Allocating, controlling and accounting for those financial and material resources of the school which are under the control of the headteacher.
• Arranging for a deputy headteacher or other suitable person to assume responsibility for the discharge of his/her functions as headteacher at any time when he/she is absent from the school.
• Participating, to such an extent as may be appropriate having regard to his/her other duties, in the teaching of pupils at the school, including the provision of cover for absent teachers.

Requirements
Candidate should be:

• Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree with 5 - 7 years of work experience.
• Conversant with the primary British curriculum
• Experienced with the use of British literacy books
• Knowledge of the Montessori curriculum is an added advantage.

Salary

• N100,000 - N130,000 monthly.
