Job Title: Farm Manager

Location: Ibeju, Lagos

Summary

• The Farm Manager will be responsible for obtaining better yield and profitability by deciding on the crops, livestock management and production, plan farming activities, supervise direct reports, supervise planting, spraying crop protection chemicals, harvesting the crops, marketing and selling of crops.
• Documentation of all details including financial aspects of the farm and strategic planning.
• Crops range from cereals, grains, oilseeds, vegetables. Livestock includes cattle, poultry and pigs
• Implementation of detailed landscape plans, fertilizer application, chemicals and water application.
• Weeds and prunes woody and herbaceous plants.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Deciding on the type, quality and quantity of crops to be planted.
• Preparing plans for the mode of harvest, harvesting schedules and supervises the Farm Hands while carrying out these activities
• Preparing farm budgets and accomplishing the farm activities within the planned budget.
• Managing animal production, dairy or crop production as well as plans strategies for maximum yield, organizing farm administration, working machinery, organizing associated businesses and managing farm staff.
• Ensuring seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other supplies are regularly restocked.
• Scheduling repairs, maintenance, and replacement of farm equipment and machinery.
• Purchasing farm supplies like agrochemicals and seeds, feed for livestock etc.
• Management of sales and marketing of farm products like crop harvest, dairy production, and livestock amongst others
• Meeting the deadlines for producing yield and sending the yield to the desired vendors for auctions
• Monitoring the quality and quantity of crops and maintaining animal health
• Ensuring adequate stock taking of livestock as well as maintaining low mortality rate.
• Updated knowledge on plant and animals’ diseases and taking necessary measures for treating/preventing same.
• Adequate filling of the Farm Log Books and sharing reports to the line manager as at when due.
• Preserving environmental biodiversity and undertaking protection activities if need be
• Keeping a track of health and safety of farm workers and other staff.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree / HND qualification with 6 - 8 years work experience.
