Job Title: Senior Upholstrey Technician

Location: Berger, Olowora, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

• Stripping upholstered furniture down to its wooden frame in order to identify defects and conduct repairs.
• Produce coverings / materials for furniture.
• Take measurements and accurately cut materials required for furniture upholstery.
• Liaising with interior design team to decorate and coordinate room furnishing.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of upholstery techniques by monitoring the upholstery industry to identify trends.
• Carry out cost estimates to determine the requirements for a project and also ensure that projects are completed within set time constraints.
• Study work orders to determine the amount and type of materials required to cover work pieces
• Follow sketches, patterns or blueprints to indicate cutting lines on fabrics using chalks, pencils or paint.
• Measure and cut materials using manual or automated cutting instruments
• Secure work pieces and materials onto production equipment
• Conduct routine maintenance of work tools and upholstery machine
• Operate sewing machine to sew upholstery and join various sections of covering fabric.

Qualification / Experience / Skills

• SSCE / NABTEB / Trade test Certification in Upholstery or successful completion of an Upholstery apprenticeship.
• Applicants should possess relevant skills, qualifications and experience.
• Proven experience as an Upholsterer
• Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
• Good knowledge of English
• Dexterity
• Excellent design skills
• Time Management
• Good physical condition and endurance
• Ability to draw and interpret design templates.
• Knowledge of upholstery tools including hot knives, nail guns, and sewing equipment.
• Ability to lift, pull, and manipulate heavy objects.
