Job Title: Data Engineer

Location: Lagos

Job Objective(s)

• Responsible for building data pipelines that make data more reliable and relevant for descriptive and advanced analytics (data science) use cases. Will work closely with the data analysts, data scientists and business to understand data requirements.
• Responsible for developing and maintaining central storage locations specifically designed to support analytics needs. Will work closely with the data architect to develop and maintain the ETL and architecture blueprints designed by the data architect.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture,
• Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, refining infrastructure for greater scalability.
• Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and Azure technologies.
• Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
• Aggregating data into new or existing data warehouses or central data staging areas.

Requirements
Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
• Relevant experience or Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics

Experience:

• At least 2 years working with databases, data warehouses and ETL tools on-prem and cloud.
• Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures and data sets from large, disconnected datasets.
• Strong analytic skills related to working with structured and unstructured datasets.
• Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
• Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: SSIS, Azure Data Factory (ADF) etc.
• Experience with Azure cloud services: ADF, Synapse etc. will be an advantage
• Experience with any object-oriented languages e.g. Python, C# etc. will be an advantage
• Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc. will be an advantage
• Knowledge of Data science concepts will be an advantage.
