Job Title: Capital Market Lawyer

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos

Job Description

• Experience in capital markets transactions for a wide range of domestic and international issuer types and debt and equity products.
• Amending and/or reviewing and advising on pre-transaction and transaction documents from initial pitch phase through closing. Working collaboratively with associates and partners to manage closings; performing due diligence reviews.

Responsibilities

• Managing the legal deal process, from planning and strategy through closing.
• Preparing, reviewing and drafting all transaction documents and related disclosure.
• Coordinating any necessary filings with all required regulatory bodies
• Reviewing rating agency and investor presentation materials.
• Advising the clients on ongoing legal matters based on a comprehensive understanding of their business needs and informed by relevant experience, including regulatory compliance, general corporate matters, disclosure issues and contract negotiations.
• Collaborating and communicating effectively with tax, accounting, audit, sourcing, and other clients matters, as well as other experts in the legal dealings to facilitate financing and capital markets transactions.
• Experience representing broker-dealers on capital markets transactions, including registered and exempt offerings of debt, equity and equity-linked securities.

Requirements

• LL.B Degree and (5) five or more years of relevant work experience.
• Bar membership in good standing.
• Three or more years of capital market / security experience at top law firm.
• Ability to operate with a significant level of independence.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and process a large volume of work in a timely manner with attention to detail.
• Outstanding writing, editing and oral communication skills, adaptive to and effective for different audiences.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships within an organization.
