Job Summary

• Backend Engineer to grow the business in line with the company's overall strategy of driving more customers and more user cases backed with a superlative learning experience.
• The primary activities of the role will entail designing, developing and shipping APIs / Microservices and others.
• The ideal role holder will work closely with front-end and data engineers, a small team of talented and passionate engineers, to provide easy-to-use and well-documented APIs and Backend services.

Job Description

• Developing the Microservice / APIs endpoints to be consumed with a strong focus on security.
• Improving and maintaining our existing core application systems.
• Building a highly-scalable and resilient infrastructure.
• Develop processes, and compile and analyze codes to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborating with the front-end developers and other team members to establish objectives and design more functional, cohesive codes to enhance the user experience.
• Developing ideas for new programs, products, or features by monitoring industry developments and trends.
• Recording data and reporting it to proper parties, such as clients or leadership.
• Participating in continuing education and training to remain current on best practices, learn new programming languages, and better assist other team members.
• Taking lead on projects, as needed.
• Coach your teammates and provide them with constructive feedback.
• Actively spot and report issues and work on fixing and refactoring code where needed.
• Come up with new functionalities, tools, technologies and actually build them.
• Improve legacy code as well as write new functionalities from scratch.
• Respond to the PR review requests of your colleagues.
• Eager to learn new tools & languages and share your knowledge with the team.

Person Specification

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming, Computer Science or a related field.
• Fluency or understanding of more than one language, such as Node, PHP, or Python, and operating systems may be required.
• Strong understanding of the web development cycle and programming techniques and tools.
• Focus on efficiency, user experience, and process improvement.
• Ability to work independently or with a group.
• Solid engineering capability with an eye towards performance
• Experience with Google Cloud or AWS is preferred.
• Experience with micro-services or highly scalable infrastructure is preferred.
• Ability to write code that is clean, properly architected, maintainable, and scalable.
• Must possess a track record of responsibility and an ability to think critically through difficult technical problems.
