Michael Stevens Consulting - Our client, an extra-ministerial department set-up to oversee the management of pensions for pensioners not transiting to the Defined Contributory Scheme has recently received the mandate to carry out its functions as stipulated by the Pension Reform Act (PRA) 2004.

Job Title: Team Lead - Budgeting

Job Description

• Reporting to the Head, Accounts, this role is primarily responsible for establishing budgeting policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems and ensuring compliance with budgetary controls.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports.
• Prepare the Organisation's budget.
• Plan, direct and manage the coordination of Organisation-wide budget activities.
• Prepare and render mid-year and quarterly financial reports.
• Review departmental staff reports related to the budget.
• Develop the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; implement adjustments.
• Develop and maintain budget-related report programs.
• Prepare monthly financial report to include budget-to-actual revenue and expenditure information.
• Analyze significant variances and present information to management.
• Prepare adopted budget for merge to the financial information system.

Job Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any other Social Science discipline.
• A minimum of 12 years work experience of which at least 3 years should have been in similar function.
• Professional accounting certification is mandatory.

Key Competency Requirements:

• Advanced financial and accounting knowledge, including in depth understanding of public sector international and Nigerian accounting standards.
• Demonstrates excellent leadership/supervisory, coaching and mentoring and people management skills.
• A hands-on experience in financial planning and analysis.
