Description

• Review of tax computations prepared by the tax accountants and tax administrators
• Review the tax accruals, liabilities and provisions at MTN Nigeria
• Liaise with External Auditors and Advisers and oversee the process of preparing responses to Tax Authorities in the case of tax assessments;
• Ensure Transfer Pricing documentation and compliance.
• Deal with tax issues relating to related party transactions, international / cross border transactions
• Prepare the Tax Risk Register for submission to Group Tax;
• Act as the Tax Risk Facilitator
• Liaising with Group Tax for all tax reporting and any tax planning and efficiencies that can be brought to the business
• Liaise with the Tax Authority on an ongoing basis and in particular when any audits are conducted, or investigations undertaken
• Encouraging and creating awareness of various tax matters across MTN Nigeria through ‚Think Tax Road shows, meetings, presentations and forums
• Negotiate tax agreements within acceptable company guidelines
• Provide advisory services and liaise with relevant divisions on tax compliance and accounting matters
• Finalize the review and tax impact evaluation of IFRS adjustment as they relate to the financials
• Inform or educate other divisions on tax related issues through strategy documents, PPP, and Capacity building Workshops
• Advise on tax impact of business transactions and strategy
• Coordinate tax operations of MTNNF and other MTNN subsidiary.
• Deal with external tax queries from MTN Group.
• Review contracts and agreements for tax compliance including Employment Contract for Nonresidents and National Quota
• Coordinate Tax audit for FIRS and SBIRs
• Review performance of individual team members and complete appraisals in accordance with the employee performance appraisal procedures and time schedules.

Requirements
Education:

• First Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or related discipline.
• Possession of a professional accounting / Tax qualification
• Fluent in English

Experience:

• 6- 13 years’ experience which includes:
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an area of specialization; with experience in supervising/managing others
• Experience working in a medium to large organization
• Comprehensive experience in tax administration and reporting, tax compliance and  data analysis,
• Experience in tax audits.
