Marketing Storyteller at Klasha

Klasha makes it easy for African consumers to shop online. We build technology that allows African consumers to easily access the goods they want on the continent. We enable payments online in local African currencies and can handle the last-mile logistics for our retail partners too. Statistically, Africa is the future, so we believe consumers on the continent should have the same frictionless access to the global e-commerce economy as consumers in the West.

Klasha was founded in Lagos, Nigeria in 2018 and is backed by Techstars, Ginco Investments and a group of notable angel investors. Klasha is run by 20-somethings from five nationalities that speak six different languages between them. Klasha has offices in Johannesburg, South Africa and Lagos, Nigeria.

About the Role

• Klasha is in search of a qualified marketing storyteller who will be responsible for writing and editing copies across digital channels, videos, proposals, social networks, blogs, banners and emails, and the role requires a deep understanding and thoughtful application of digital content & communication strategy.
• We are looking for energetic, passionate, and confident candidates who can help turn frowns into life-changing grins.
• The marketing storyteller will assist with various functions of the other team members and provide support to our sales department, with a strong focus on creating and shaping branded assets, content and marketing communications messaging for a variety of client accounts.

Responsibilities
What you will be doing:

• Develop content calendars on a weekly and monthly basis
• Generate creative storytelling ideas and also lead the execution of these ideas.
• Ability to create copy that stands out from the crowd
• Research plan and write content on deadline.
• Create engaging blog and social media content
• Assist in the general distribution of press releases and media alerts
• Work well with designers, media planners and marketing specialists to create copy while exercising good team-working skills.
• Experienced in working with other teams of creative thinkers, digital marketers and editors
• Monitor analytics with the social media team to identify viable ideas

Requirements
You should apply if you:

• Have a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations
• Have 2-3 years in a copywriting position at an agency or other corporate environment
• Have familiarity with SEO-driven keyword research
• Have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Key Competencies:

• Experience in content creation, copywriting, editing, marketing, public relations or similar advertising position(s)
• Strong marketing mind with the ability to communicate value to the intended audience
• Maintain an understanding of emerging digital trends
• An understanding of current Digital Marketing concepts, strategy and best practices
• Understanding of story fundamentals (effective character, trajectory, hook, authenticity/details and calls-to-action)
• In-depth working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Google+
• Fluent knowledge of the English language.
