Job Title: Shipping Manager

Job Summary
The Shipping Manager has a wide range of duties that deal with each step of the shipping process. She/he track shipments and communicate with the GMD about the package's progress.
She/he coordinate shipping with customs agents for clearance on overseas deliveries, deal with quotes from prospective shippers and handle claims with insurance companies if any shipment problems happen to occur.
The Shipping Manager will also provide efficient import and export delivery logistics through data management.
She/he fill out import-export documentation, compile carrier and route assignments, compute international fees for each shipment, and keep track of shipment payments and quotas.
Job Description
Provide import and export estimates and information regarding activities in and out of Nigeria (via air, ocean and truck).
Provide customer service to internal departments and overseas affiliates/clients.
Maintain import and export data and verify information accuracy.
Classify all entries, resolve import and export problems and monitor all activities for the production and consumption of the company.
Coordinate all deliveries and security arrangements from the airport to facility.
Handle all post-entry amendments and internal audits of all imports and exports carried out.
Manage the company’s import and export processes in a cost-effective way – including all related tasks
Assist with financial duties regarding import and export processes in an effective and responsible way as well as the daily running processes of the unit
Manage import and export responsibilities according to set deadlines
Ensure the unit’s compliance with set policies and procedures
Maintain a high degree of professional and ethical relationships with internal clients and suppliers as well as external entities
Accurate and timely reporting of relevant management information to the GMD
Manage, control, check or assist with issuing of all import/export documents
Effective negotiation of duties and terms for imports and exports
Provide professional, efficient and timely advice and/or communications to the organization with regard to tariffs, incoterms, restrictions and permits
Obtain freight quotations and/or permits where necessary
Ensure that all transactions will be done in a cost-effective way
Any other function as may be assigned by the CFO and GMD.
Qualifications
First Bachelor’s Degree / HND in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Procurement & Supply Chain or any Social Sciences.
Minimum of 5 years relevant post-graduation experience.
Professional qualification will be an added advantage
