Key Responsibilities

• Overseeing the implementation of a data warehouse and also the deployment process of data to the data warehouse
• Support the implementation of data science & analytics in line with Company strategy and milestones and analytics vision
• Employ sophisticated analytical methods, machine learning and statistical methods to prepare data for use in predictive and prescriptive modelling.
• Design, develop and deploy statistical and mathematical models to solve critical operational business problems
• Cooperate with the product department to deploy software and hardware upgrades that make it possible to leverage big data use cases.
• Review and validate customer data as it’s collected. Extracting huge volumes of structured and unstructured data.
• Query structured data from relational databases using programming languages such as SQL. Gather unstructured data through web scraping, APIs, and surveys.
• Maintain analytics tools capability catalogs
• Serve as in-house expert on available visualization & analytical tools i.e. features, capabilities and best practices
• Thoroughly clean data to discard irrelevant information and prepare the data for pre processing and modelling.
• Develop policies and procedures for the collection and analysis of data.
• Create or discover new data procurement and processing programs.
• Solving business problems through undirected research and framing open-ended industry questions.
• Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to determine how to handle missing data and to look for trends and/or opportunities.
• Discovering new algorithms to solve problems and build programs to automate repetitive work.
• Communicate predictions and findings to the management and product department through effective data visualizations and reports.
• Recommend cost-effective changes to existing procedures and strategies.
• Monitor analytics and metrics results.
• Continuously review customer files to ensure integrity of data collection and utilization.
• Perform data profiling to identify and understand anomalies

Reporting Line:

• The successful candidate will report to the Vice President, Distribution and Marketing
• You will work closely with our Marketing & Sales team, Finance, Operations, Customer Service and Product & Technology team

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Maths, Statistics, Computer Science or other relevant discipline
• 5+ years working experience in Data Science or Analytics (experience at a tech/e-commerce organization is a plus).
• Experience with statistical modeling for predictive analytics
• Experience working with large datasets
• Experience designing and implementing complex analytical models
• Experience with Machine Learning algorithms and techniques
• Experience creating informative data visualizations
• Understanding of sampling techniques;
• Understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics concepts;
• Proficient in Python, SQL, Scala, Java, R, MATLAB.
• Data visualization and reporting with: Tableau, SAS, D3.js, Python, Java, R libraries, Looker.
• Working knowledge of big data platforms: MongoDB, Oracle, Microsoft Azure, Cloudera, Google Cloud.
• Strong understanding of risk analysis, statistical analysis and maths, data warehousing and structures, data mining, cleaning and munging.
• Effective Communicator.

Compensation
Salary is competitive (N400,000 - N700,000 monthly).
