Job Description

• You will work under the leadership of an Editor to create and shape our news/programme coverage by writing scripts, cutting pictures, finding guests, developing graphics and other work as required.

Responsibilities

• Working under the direction of a Bulletin/Programme Editor to produce distinctive and original journalism
• Writing scripts for on-air talent, cutting pictures using a newsroom production system, finding guests, commissioning and writing graphics and other tasks as required
• Working with producers across the newsroom, as well as with the online and digital, to cultivate a collaborative approach to content production and delivery across the channel.
• Conducting research on issues related to politics, policy and governance in Nigeria and around the world
• Actively monitor content on other broadcast, print and online/social media on issues about Nigerian and global politics, policy and governance
• Generate ideas and contribute to daily editorial meetings on evolving program formats, themes, topics and topic treatment for a daily program on politics, policy and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree / HND in related field
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a TV journalist /3-5-years’ experience in political reporting/reporting politics in a national, regional or local newspaper or other media
• In-depth and extensive knowledge and understanding of Nigerian and global politics
• Strong Editorial Judgement
• Experience of newsroom production systems
• Excellent communication skills to receive, interpret and convey information accurately and concisely
• Interpersonal skills
• Organizational skills and the ability to multitask
• Flexible approach to work and working hours.
• Ability to work under pressure and deliver on tight deadlines.
