Job Title: Planning Editor

Job Description

• A planning editor monitor multiple sources for news, and works with reporters, shoot edits, producers, and other staff members to assign and develop story ideas.

Responsibilities

• Distribution of news coverage assignments to reporters.
• Coordinating reporters and shoot edits to cover breaking news and meet production deadlines.
• Working with the news team in coming up with story ideas and gathering information. Based on their news judgment and the preferences of viewers.
• Planning Editors accesses news wire servic2s and use social media websites, develop and maintain contacts with law enforcement and fire departments, local government and community organizations to stay updated on current events.
• Coordinating the coverage of multiple stories at once and monitor the progress of news teams.
• Develop and propose a daily news coverage plan
• Be the main point of communication between reporters, production teams, and executive staff on developing stories

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree / HND in related field
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a TV journalist
• Strong Editorial Judgement
• Experience of newsroom production systems
• Excellent communication skills to receive, interpret and convey information accurately and concisely
• Interpersonal skills
• Organizational skills and the ability to multitask
• Flexible approach to work and working hours.
