Job Title: Learning and Research Officer

Location: Lagos

Job Description

• The Learning and Research Officer will support the Head of Research and Development on learning priorities across the organization.
• S/he is also responsible for contributing to the design and effective conduct and research in accordance with the NGO’s mission, guiding principles, standards, commitments, regulatory framework (including policies, procedures, and guidance), as well as professional norms and standards.
• The Learning and Research Officer will report directly to the Head, Research and Development.

Responsibilities
In fulfilling his or her responsibilities, the successful candidate will:

• Develop research work plans according to project needs.
• Identify gaps in knowledge and work with sector specialists and officers to ensure these are addressed in planned evidence activities.
• Facilitate cross-sectoral collaboration in research and data collection activities.
• Ensure that research is designed and implemented according to established NGO’s policies and procedures, and the results are disseminated in a timely fashion to stakeholders to improve programme performance and contribute to wider learning.
• Develop grant proposals and assist in grant completion and submission processes.
• Act as primary contact for research team for any questions and concerns.
• Assist in maintenance of research database.
• Assist with oversight of research including surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
• Review the Terms of Reference for upcoming major research projects and drafts of research reports.
• Analyse and resolve research issues in a timely and accurate manner.
• Data collection and analysis.

Requirements

• A Minimum of B.Sc / B.A in relevant discipline.
• Proven working experience as a Learning/Research Officer.
• At least 2 years of experience in working with NGOs is required.
• Strong research background required with an ability to design and analyse data through proven methodologies.
• Experience in policy-oriented research, demonstrated by a track record of publications and reports.
• Good communication skills – skill in public speaking and presentation of research.
• Ability to translate research ideas into fundable projects.
