Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola was Established by Edict No.8 of 1996 to provide: full time and part-time courses of instructions and training in Technology, the sciences, humanities, commerce and such other fields of learning relevant to the need of community; courses of in-service training, workshop and seminars to the public and private sectors; teaching, research and other means of development of knowledge and its practical application to the needs of the community and to award Diplomas and certificates in the fields of learning.

Job Description

• The Rector is the Chief Academic and Administrative Officer of the Polytechnic and provides the requisite academic. administrative and professional leadership in executing the policies formulated by the Governing Council.
• The Rector is expected to foster good rapports with the State Ministry of Tertiary and Professional Education National Board for Technical Education and other relevant educational, administrative and professional bodies for achievement of the objectives for which the institution was established.

Requirements

• Possess a Doctorate Degree from a recognized University in any fields of Science and Technology.
• Have at least fifteen (15) years post qualification cognate experience In teaching, research, community service and administration.
• Not below the rank of Chief Lecturer in a Polytechnic or its equivalent in a Tertiary Institution of learning.
• Produce evidences of affiliation with recognized professional body / bodies and authorship of a good number of scholarly publications in reputable journals media.
• Be knowledgeable about the operation of the Polytechnic system and competent to take executive action on matters of planning, research and management toward the realization of the cardinal objectives of the Polytechnic.
• Have basic proficiency in ICT to be able to cope with the needs and operation of the Polytechnic.
• Be in sound physical and mental health.
• Have the ability to attract funds and other Interventions for the development of the Polytechnic.
• Be objective, fair-minded, impartial and of impeccable character and must have demonstrated good track records of leadership qualities, drive, innovation and achievement in result-oriented academic and administrative leadership

Terms of Appointment

• The appointment is for a period of four (4) years in the first Instance, and shall be eligible for renewal for another period of four (4) years subject to satisfactory performance.

Remuneration

• The Rector enjoys a consolidated remuneration package as applicable in the Polytechnic system.
• The Rector is entitled to other fringe benefits attached to the office.
