Job Description
Purpose of the team:
The Communications for Development team is building a global community who are learning together, online and offline, to equip themselves with knowledge and skills to face the challenges of poverty and injustice in our world.
Tearfund Learn is a source of relevant and reliable information on Christian humanitarian and development work and enables Tearfund to share learning, empower and influence a wide range of audiences, from grassroots communities and partners to peers and policy-makers.
Main Purpose of the Job
To coordinate Tearfund Learn website and email channels, oversee related production processes and build digital content.
To work alongside IT and UX specialists to ensure our digital channels demonstrate best practice and are constantly improving to meet our audience needs.
Position in organisation:
Reports to the Digital Manager, Communications for Development.
Member of the website scrum team
Works closely with the wider Comms for Development team (Design, Editorial and Translation service), as well as IT development, Brand & Comms and subject matter experts across the organisation.
Primary decision-making around content delivery workflow for Tearfund Learn including process, layout and user experience
Line manages Junior Digital Producer (currently vacant)

Website development and optimisation
Duties and Key Responsibilities
Creating and maintaining digital content and ensuring effective production processes:
Oversee the digital production process, working closely with design, editorial and translation specialists
Build new web and email content for Tearfund teams, including the preparation of graphics, optimisation for search engines and ensuring accessibility standards are met.
Oversee the work of the junior digital producer, allocating tasks such as web page and email production and website maintenance and optimisation - in line with priorities set by C4D digital manager.
Assessment of the digital information and knowledge sharing needs of Tearfund and our audiences, in order to ensure that the Tearfund Learn channels support Tearfund’s work effectively:
Work closely with subject matter experts within Tearfund to ensure that their area is being appropriately served by the Tearfund Learn channels and regularly used by Tearfund staff, partner organisations and other key stakeholders
Conduct user testing, focus groups and staff surveys to maintain an ongoing understanding of the degree to which the Tearfund Learn website is meeting the audience needs and our organisational information sharing objectives
Honour service level agreements
Website and email development and optimisation:
Work alongside IT and UX specialists as a member of our website sprint team to ensure that new website components and functionality are effectively scoped, tested and implemented in order to meet our changing user requirements and digital best practice
Project manage discreet web content projects including the digital edition of Footsteps three times a year
Maintain good housekeeping of our CMS (Sitecore) content structure to enable better performance of the platform
Research and monitor trends in digital communications in order to deliver platforms that enable innovation and the best experience for end-users across devices
Qualifications
Essential:
Degree or equivalent professional experience - we welcome applications from all those who can demonstrate the specific skills and experience outlined below.
This level may have been attained through studying for a degree and/or from professional experience

Building and maintaining webpages through the use of a content management system (CMS)
Building and optimising marketing/promotional emails
Strong project planning and proven ability to manage processes effectively
Good understanding of Agile methodologies and experience of sprint teams
Working with written content in languages other than English
Working across multiple contexts and cultures
Basic understanding of HTML
Desirable:
Familiarity with Sitecore CMS and
Mailchimp
Gathering actionable insights from in-person and remote user research and testing
Understanding of the humanitarian and Development Sector
Line management responsibility
Skills / Abilities:
English as a first or very fluent second language with the ability to communicate freely and confidently (verbally and in writing)
Able to understand digital development process, and liaise effectively with UX design and front-end/back-end development specialists
Ability to engage and motivate key stakeholders and assess their information needs
Ability to manipulate images to prepare them for online platforms within photo editing software
