Job Title: Senior Advisor for Strategic Partnerships
The Senior Advisor for Strategic Partnerships will be responsible for developing and strengthening Ipas partnerships cultivation and engagement strategy to increase Ipas’s impact and funding through strategic partnerships with other organizations.
The Senior Advisor leads our efforts to position Ipas to participate in consortia for various multi-year funding opportunities among them RFPs and competitive bids.
Furthermore, as Ipas is expanding its scope into intersectional areas, the Senior Advisor will pursue partners in identified thematic areas and consortia. The Senior Adviser will work closely with all nodes of the Ipas Network to feed and gather intelligence needed for partnership building.
The Senior Advisor is also responsible for keeping abreast of developments in the innovative financing arena, working closely with Ipas leaders to develop relationships with a variety of non-traditional funding partners.
Identify and help cultivate relationships with a broad range of organizations to pursue new joint funding opportunities in service of Ipas’s mission.
Map possible partners in intersectional thematic areas and position Ipas in intersectional spaces and consortia.
Advise on the best type of partnerships to be pursued for positioning Ipas at global, regional and country levels.
Build our intelligence into key peer organizations’ technical capacities, to inform bidding and other funding decisions and strategies at global, regional, and country levels.
Sharpen Ipas’s understanding of how funding is allocated within key funding institutions issuing competitive tenders and RFPs and provide strategic guidance on establishing and further strengthening Ipas’s relationships with those institutions.
Lead Ipas’s response to RFPs for competitive bids from initial intelligence gathering and pre-solicitation activities through proposal submission.
Develop and implement a plan to build Ipas’s capacity in all stages of competitive bidding, including strengthening pre-solicitation processes, strategic communications, intelligence-gathering efforts, positioning Ipas for consortia, partnership negotiations, and proposal development approaches. Work with country offices to strengthen skills sets.
Identify new potential non-traditional partner organizations and firms aligned with priority funders, and with Ipas’s core and intersectional technical areas of strategic priority. Provide strategic guidance on establishing and strengthening relationships with these entities.
Research and develop a plan to pursue innovative financing mechanisms, including large-scale pooled-funding opportunities and “big bets” opportunities, to be implemented in collaboration with Development colleagues and senior leadership.
Contribute to business development processes, meetings, and special initiatives.
Serve as an external representative of Ipas with partners and donors in collaboration with other staff.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Master's degree (e.g., in Public Health, Public Policy, International Studies, Development Studies, Gender, Political Science or other related field)
5 - 7 years of relevant work experience
Substantive knowledge of institutional and bilateral donors supporting women’s health and rights and global health
Strong knowledge of sexual and reproductive health and rights
Familiarity with development sectors such as education, comprehensive sexuality education, gender-based violence, and climate justice – which intersect with reproductive rights
Demonstrated success with international development competitive bids
Familiarity with innovative financing mechanisms for global health
Excellent negotiation skills
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
Excellent English writing and editing skills
Ability to travel 10%
Experience working in a non-profit organization
Experience with written and oral presentations
Proficiency with MS Office Suite
Preferred Skills:
Fluency in another language (i.e., French, and/or Portuguese or an Asian language)
Extensive experience in international development, including travel and overseas residence
Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills
Capacity-building and coaching skills with country offices and various teams
