ARFH currently implements the Integrated Child Health and Social Services Award (ICHSSA) 2 Project in twenty-four (24) Local Government Areas in Lagos and Edo States with support from USAID and working in partnership with FHI 360 and Project HOPE through thirteen (13) community-based organizations (CBOs) providing quality care, treatment and support to orphans and vulnerable children (OVC).
The overall goal of the ARFH ICHSSA 2 Project is to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS on vulnerable children and their households in Lagos and Edo States, through multi-prong approaches.
Violence against children continues to be a significant problem across the globe, especially in low- and middle-income countries where families face the brunt of poverty, unemployment, lack of basic services, as well as high rates of diseases such as HIV/AIDS.
Children living in families affected by adverse factors, such as poverty, substance abuse, and intimate partner violence, are more likely to develop behavioural difficulties. Positive and supportive parenting has been identified as a protective factor to reduce and prevent the risk of violence against children and adolescents.
ICHSSA 2 Project is collaborating with Clowns Without Borders to rollout the implementation of the Sinovuyo Teens Programme which is an evidence-based parenting intervention for caregivers and their adolescents’ children.
ARFH currently seeks application for Training Facilitators to roll out the Sinovuyo Teens Programme with fidelity and success.
The Facilitators will be responsible for first mastering a 14-hour curriculum for Caregivers and their adolescent children and promote practices & behaviours that build competencies.
This is expected to equip parents and caregivers with skills to prevent and manage disruptive behaviour amongst children, which, in turn, reduces parental stress.
