Job Title: Development Chapter Lead (DevOps)
Location: Lagos
Job Objective(s)
Provide Strategic direction of application and solutions development
To oversee the support of all application systems while ensuring that the deployment of the IT solutions complies with the Bank’s policies.
Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee the successful completion of all work assigned to the unit
Manage expectations of the unit’s internal and external customers
Clearly communicate goals, organizational philosophies, and policies and procedures to the unit members
Support BREAM in resource planning and skills management for the application solutions unit
Manage the implementation and support of the organization’s application systems
Direct efforts to work with BREAM to define business solutions, ensuring alignment with business strategies and priorities, as well as the target benefits expected
Supervise the translation of change initiatives or business/user requirements into application systems delivery
Support the articulation of user requirements in the context of business objectives through establishing and maintaining dialogue with users
Track application systems developments through suppliers/other external sources
Provide key inputs on application systems in the formulation of the IT strategy
Manage hand-over/transfer of IS solutions to operational status
Continually liaise with other IT units and business users to: understand business requirements for business applications, identify and evaluate the technical options for satisfying business requirements based on functionality, understand quality requirements, manage and report cost, etc.
Provide leadership and technical guidance to reports
Identify systems improvement opportunities by analysing best practices, technology trends.
Key Performance Indicators
Execution of the IT Plan and realization of performance targets (actual against planned i.e. missed milestones or initiatives)
Number of system components not aligned to defined enterprise architecture blueprint and standards
Number of systems-related customer complaints
Frequency of repeated quality audit exceptions
Percentage of overdue incidents and problems
Number of failed/delayed application releases
Number of business requirements fulfilled
Applications delivery budget versus actual budget
Timeliness of Subordinate reviews and mentoring
Effectiveness of Subordinate reviews and mentoring.
Job Requirements
Education:
Minimum of First Degree or its equivalent in a Business / IT related discipline
Master's, MBA or a recognized professional certification will be an added advantage
Experience:
12+ years of experience in designing, developing and delivering solutions
10+ years of management experience with 4+ years spent in senior management role.
Key Competency Requirements:
Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of software development frameworks, concepts and best practices
In-depth knowledge of package/enterprise system implementation
Proficient knowledge of structured systems analysis and design, and software development life cycle
Project management skills – Project leader experience of medium to large size IT projects
Good knowledge of enterprise applications systems such as Finacle 10, Oracle ERP, etc.
Proven technical aptitude in several relevant application programming domains
Working knowledge quality control/assurance
Working knowledge of project management frameworks and standards
Working knowledge and understanding of the strategic direction of the Nigerian Banking Industry
Sound strategic planning and management skills
Sound interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with business stakeholders
Sound conflict management skills
Sound administrative and managerial ability
