Job Title: Steel Detailer Engineer

Location: Amuwo Odofin, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

• Create structural steel drawings and prepare steel erection plans for buildings, bridges, and miscellaneous steel items.
• Utilize detailing software, such as SDS/2 software, and computer-assisted design (CAD) programs to draft your blueprints.
• Gather information on community and environmental factors of the area, discuss the specifications and expectations of the project with your client, review small-scale models, manage the preparation of the build project, and ensure the structure meets building standards.
• Plan and collaborate with fabricators, architects, and other engineers throughout the project to ensure you complete the project by the deadline and within budget.
• Ensure the detailing is up to specified measurement and is well used by the builders
• Coordinate with project team members to supply relevant production-related data files
• Read and interpret the structural and architectural contract drawings
• Verify drawings, dates, specifications, addenda and contract scope
• Track and report changes to contract drawings
• Produce bar lists from drawings based on customer’s instruction
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Metal Fabrication or any related course
• Knowledge Steel Detailing of weld symbols are preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years working experience as a Steel Detailing Engineer.
• Proficient computer knowledge of Microsoft Office Software
• Must be able to read and interpret project design documents
• Must have hands-on experience in Steel Detailing.
• Concrete construction knowledge and/or experience
• Ability to read architectural / engineering blueprints
• Organized and detail oriented
• Able to manage time effectively and prioritize responsibilities
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
